KOK Milieuopslagsystemen contributes to the safe business operations of its customers and has developed an active policy to achieve this contribution with the smallest possible impact on the environment, an efficient supply chain, and an optimal working climate for employees.
KOK Milieuopslagsystemen invests in people
All employees are regularly informed about the general state of affairs within the company. Management is very accessible, allowing initiatives and suggestions to easily reach leadership from the ground up. This leads to an understanding of the policy being pursued and promotes engagement and participation.
KOK Milieuopslagsystemen actively pursues a policy of training and motivating its employees. The result of this is that there is practically no staff turnover and employees regularly progress internally. The generational pact of the metal industry is also accessible to employees of KOK Milieuopslagsystemen.
Safety is a key theme in business operations. Investment is made in training and resources from the Risk Assessment and Evaluation (RI&E) to ensure all activities can be carried out safely. This limits occupational health and safety risks to a minimum.
KOK Milieuopslagsystemen is an SBB-recognised training company for BBL (work-based learning) courses in metalwork for MBO (secondary vocational education) levels 2, 3, and 4. KOK Milieuopslagsystemen actively supports and participates in various (regional) initiatives aimed at inspiring young people to pursue technical careers. Additionally, KOK Milieuopslagsystemen is a member of the OBM association, which acts as an intermediary between BBL students, ROCs (colleges of higher vocational education), and the business community.
KOK Environmental Storage Systems is environmentally conscious and sustainable
The business premises in Beneden-Leeuwen are “gas-free” and built with high thermal insulation values. The heat pumps combined with the HRU (Heat Recovery Unit) installation ensure a pleasant and constant indoor climate in both the production hall and the offices with minimal energy consumption.
By applying “sunblock” windows, the cooling capacity of the heat pump is sufficient to control the temperature in the summer and air conditioning is not necessary.
Structurally, the property is suitable for installing solar panels on the roof. With less than half of the roof area covered in solar panels, KOK Milieuopslagsystemen can be entirely self-sufficient in its electricity consumption. This investment is planned for the future.
The property is fully equipped with LED lighting, and motion switches have been installed in locations where it is beneficial.
The amount of waste generated during production has been minimised. Construction materials are purchased to the correct size as much as possible. Sawdust and offcuts cannot be entirely avoided, however. All metals are offered for recycling.
The packaging materials received, PP, LDPE and EPS, are collected separately and offered for reuse. The same applies to paper and wood.
No disposable bottles or cups are used. Everyone at KOK Environmental Storage Systems has access to Doppers and crockery.
All these measures have resulted in the amount of residual waste being minimal.
KOK Environmental Storage Systems consciously purchases
In addition to employees, suppliers are important stakeholders. As far as possible, KOK Milieuopslagsystemen procures regionally. KOK Milieuopslagsystemen has a supplier loyalty policy. They know their suppliers and strive for long-term cooperation. This makes a positive contribution to the local and regional economy and community.
The suppliers that represent the largest share of procurement in terms of weight and volume (structural steel and sandwich panels) have an active sustainability policy and are ISO 26000 certified.
